Few weeks to our wedding, I got a call from Daniel. He told me to come over to his office.

“I’m still in school, you know I close by 4pm,” I explained.

“Sweetheart, but we agreed for you to resign so you could have time to prepare for the wedding.”

“I have, my love. I’ve already tendered my resignation letter, this is my last week here,” I explained.

“OK, I need you here. Please get permission or something.”

“Okay, let me try to seek permission. I’ll get back to you shortly.”

I went to the principal’s office and he granted me permission. He knew I was preparing for my wedding so he didn’t hesitate at all.

I drove down to Daniel’s office at about 11:30am. He offered me a cold drink and told me he wanted me to accompany him somewhere. Minutes later, he parked in front of a land property. The building was under construction; some workers were working there.

“What is this place?” I asked.

“A proposed site for your school, and as you can see it’s already under construction,” he informed.

My legs became weak instantly. I couldn’t believe my ears .

“Please tell me I’m dreaming. All this for me!?”

My eyes were clouded with tears.

“Woman, you are too emotional!” he said and held me in his arms.

I hugged him tightly.

“I’m speechless, I can’t thank you enough. Do I really deserve all these?”

“This beautiful heart deserve more my dear.”

He hugged and kissed me while he patted my back. We left the place and headed back to his office to get my car.

My Dad really prepared for the wedding: he re-painted the whole house, changed the furniture in the living room and even plastered the whole floor of our compound. He fixed everything that needs fixing. Our house turned brand new. It’s not easy to give your first daughter out in marriage, but he was extremely happy.

My parent-in-law to-be and all their guests arrived few days to the wedding. Some stayed at Daniel’s place while others lodged into a nearby hotel.

We had our Traditional wedding on Friday and Church wedding on Saturday. Our wedding was glorious. My heart was filled with so much joy... I finally married the man of my dreams.

My parent-in-law graced the occasion with their white friends and colleagues from America. Their extended family members in Ekiti were present too. Daniel’s white friends came down to Nigeria too. Everyone of them wore the Aso ebi; the females among them tied Gele as well.

The residents in my area thought I got married to a white man. I never believed they could travel that far to attend a wedding in Nigeria. It was fun to see these whites prostrate with the groom during the engagement ceremony. I was elated.

My extended family members, my parents friends, church members, neighbours, colleagues from work, Daniel's staff and clients were also present. The crowd was so massive. Thank God we made provisions to cater for everyone.

I really missed Joy being around. I understand the reason for her absence. I was shocked to see Tunde at the wedding ground. Daniel and I threw him an invite but I never knew he would show up. Paul and Lizzy were present too; they’ve been very supportive, although Lizzy wasn’t all that active because she was heavily pregnant.

I threw my bouquet at the reception, and guess who caught it? Sharon!

Everything went well to the glory of God. After the reception, we were taken straight to the airport.

We had our honeymoon on an island in Mauritius. Daniel discovered this place few months to our wedding and made reservations. Trust me, the place was beautiful to behold.

The island is calm with clear shimmering blue water surrounding it. The sand sparkles in the sunlight and the breeze is something else. There is a small wooden beach hut which is hidden among the tall tropical palm trees where couples can relax. The beautiful blue sunny sky is spread across the island.

All the hotel rooms look onto the ocean with great views. I love ocean front hotels, I’ve always dreamt of a place like this. I never knew beautiful places like this exist in Africa. We met some white tourists on the island as well.

Our honeymoon was splendid. My husband is extremely romantic. Our first night together was awesome and perfect. He treated me like a queen. My husband was unerringly gentle. He took his time and everything else was magical. I felt like I’ve never had sex all my life.

We had a great time together on the Island, it felt like paradise. I wish it never ends, but it has to because this trip cost a fortune. The day I stumbled on our bills, I told my husband one week is enough… we can continue our honeymoon in Nigeria, but the king was ready to do anything for his queen. He said we would come back here anytime soon. To be sincere, I won’t mind coming back... this place is out of this world.

We went on sightseeing and shopping. The restaurants on the island are classic. Their African dishes were on point.

We spent two weeks on the island before we returned to Nigeria. This is an experience I won't forget in a very long time... it was golden.
